Photographs: Reflections Around Los Angeles

As I wandered around Los Angeles the other day, I was looking for inspiration through art. I always enjoy seeing murals, graffiti and galleries around the city, but I didn’t want to just shoot a straight-up piece without any additional elements. Thankfully, as I was walking away from a semi-insane person who appeared to be yelling at everyone who passed by, I looked into this gallery I had never seen before. It was closed, but it looked interesting. And that’s when I noticed the reflection.

I instantly knew how I would shoot it and how I would edit these images. I knew how I’d crop them. I knew how I’d create a small series of images using reflections around Los Angeles. I was inspired by the art reflected on art. I was inspired by the people that surrounded the art. I was fueled by this.

Later on, I decided to add older images to the series, shots I took around the city earlier this year. I think part of this idea stemmed from my trip to Italy. When I was in Italy, everything was new so there was constant inspiration. When I came back to Los Angeles, a city I love, I had a hard time rediscovering that “new” feeling. I knew the city. So, I started looking for other ways to capture what I knew. That’s when I stumbled upon the start of this series, which is really just a great way to rediscover the city, its art and its people through reflections. SONY DSCSONY DSCSONY DSC Processed with VSCOcam with c1 preset SONY DSC Processed with VSCOcam with c1 preset Processed with VSCOcam with c1 preset Processed with VSCOcam with c1 preset
